John Ziegler Statement on California Same-sex Marriage Ruling

5/15/2008

I have no problem with "gay" marriage, but this ruling is just plain legally absurd and if it could get there (doubful)would be easily overturned at the U.S. Supreme Court level.

It is NOT legally discriminatory to have the definition of marriage be (as determined by the people) between a man and a woman. Gay people can and do get legally married every day in California, they just have to get married to someone of a different gender.

If you want "gay" (or, more accurately, "same-sex") marriage to be legal, fine. Just pass a law or have the people vote on it. This is clearly not the proper role of the court. Our Founders are once again rolling over in their graves.
